Unpaywall: Database and Linking Information

Unpaywall is a service which tracks and links to Open Access scholarly content s available for free online (i.e. not behind a paywall).

The Stanislaus State Library has incorporated Unpaywall into the Sanislaus State Library OneSearch service.  When you search OneSearch, if the library does not have the article in our collection, the system will also query Unpaywall, and may find and link to free sources for that article.

Article / Content Types:

See the Unpaywall guide section on content type for examples and more details.

  • Journal article
  • Journal article pre-print
    • Final version of an article, but not marked up for final publication in the journal layout (tables, graphs, etc.).
  • Working paper
    • Informally published research in early stages.
Access in OneSearch:

Unpaywall content is indexed in OneSearch (Everything @ Stan State).

Unpaywall will show up as a link to access the full-text in appropriate OneSearch records.
