Interlibrary Loan Services

Interlibrary Loan provides current CSU Stanislaus students, faculty and staff access to materials not owned by CSU Stanislaus. Most books are borrowed for you from another CSU Campus ((via CSU+) and arrive in 3 to 5 business days. PDFs of articles and chapters are usually available for download from your OneSearch account in 1 to 3 business days.


How to Place a Request

Check OneSearch to access items already owned by CSU Stanislaus.  If an item is not owned by CSU Stanislaus:

  • Use a Get It / "Get a copy" request in OneSearch.
    • Search OneSearch "CSU+ and Beyond" and locate a record for your item.
    • Be sure to Sign In.
    • Use the Get It / "Get a copy" request links.
      • These links should only appear if you are signed in and CSU Stanislaus does not own the item.

How to Place an Interlibrary Loan Request in OneSearch

  • If your item is listed, use a Get It / Get a copy link to request the item:

How to Place an Interlibrary Request using a Blank ILL Request Form

If you cannot find your item listed in OneSearch, or if you have enough citation information already available, you can enter your information into a blank "Resource Sharing Request" form. This form is also linked under Interlibrary Loan at the top of every OneSearch screen.

  • Book
    • Use the Book form for theses and dissertations, reports, music scores, and other non-journal materials. Required textbooks cannot be requested through Interlibrary Loan.
  • Book - "I only need a specific chapter or pages."
    • If you have the chapter information, you can request one chapter by selecting the "specific chapter or pages" option. You will receive PDF links for individual chapters.
  • Article
    • Use the Article form for articles from journals, newspapers, magazines and similar periodicals.

Access Your Item / Status of Your Request

You will receive email updates on the status and access to items requested via Interlibrary Loan, with instructions on how to access them when the item becomes available.

Use your OneSearch Account to access PDFs (of articles and chapters) and to check on the status of book requests.

In your OneSearch Account:

  • Articles are available to download under the Requests section of your OneSearch account for thirty days after a request is filled.
  • Books that have been requested but not checked out are listed under "Requests" in your OneSearch account.
  • Books you have checked out are listed under "Loans" in your OneSearch Account.
  • Books borrowed from outside the CSU+ system might be renewable, at the discretion of the lending library.

Please note: CSU+ books cannot be renewed.
