ProQuest Biological Science Collection - Overview and Tips

ProQuest's Biological Science Collection includes immediate access to the full-text of articles from over 1000 current or recent biology and biomedical journals. In addition, it allows for searching of a wider range of biological science journals, including medical journals, with links to access the text via other library services.

Search Tip - Useful Limiters
  • Use the Peer reviewed and Full-Text limiters to get immediate access to high-quality journal articles.
  • Use the Peer reviewed limiter alone to search for all scholarly/research reviewed material in the database.
Source types include:

Most of the content is from scholarly journals, but dissertations are also common. The other sources will appear less frequently in the results.

Full text:

About 25% of the content (from over 1000 current journals) is available immediately in PDF from ProQuest.

Full text links:

 Full text - PDF link from ProQuest  indicates full text is immediately available.

 Get full text link should link to the full text available in another library service.

  Find it via Stan State may link to full text immediately available in another library service, or to a request form for articles the library does not own.

Citing / Emailing / Saving in ProQuest

Citing an item from this collection:
  • Click the ProQuest Cite Icone button to generate a citation in APA, ASA, Chicago, MLA or Turabian styles.
  • The Cite button is found to the right of an entry on the search results page; in the upper right menu of an individual record).
  • Always double-check citation information provided by an online sources.
Email:
  • Click theProQuest Email iconbutton to send the item via email.
  • The email button is found to the right of an entry on the search results page.  On an individual record, click "All Options."
  • You can choose whether to include a citation and/or the full-text of the item.
Saving:
  • Click ProQuest download PDF icon button to save a PDF.
  • The download PDF button is located on the top / upper right menu on an individual item record.
Linking
  • Click the ProQuest copy URL iconbutton to generate a link you can copy and paste elsewhere.
  • The Copy URL button is found on in the top / upper right menu of an individual record screen.
  • The link will include library "proxy" information so it should work for all State State users (even if they are off-campus).
