The CSU system has signed an agreement with Oxford University Press Journals which covers the cost of making articles Stanislaus State authors available freely to all ("Open Access").   Eligible corresponding authors do not have to pay an article publishing charge (APC) to make their article "Open Access."

This is part of a joint Oxford agreement with participating CSU libraries, the University of California System, and many private academic libraries in California, and is in effect for the next four years (through 12/31/2028).

Other Transformative / Read & Publish Agreements

The following publishers also offer "open access" publishing to Stanislaus State authors at no or reduced charges.

"Unpaywall" links added to OneSearch

Unpaywall Information is a service which attempts to find full-text articles and resources available for free online (i.e. not behind a paywall). We have  incorporated Unpaywall into the Stanislaus State Library OneSearch service.  When you search OneSearch, if the library does not have the article in our collection, the system will also query Unpaywall, and may link to free sources for that article.

Journal Article: Example Record
Walk the dog, or: products of open balls in the space of continuous functions. (2011). Functiones et Approximatio Commentarii Mathematici. https://doi.org/10.7169/facm/1301497751
Retrieves the finished PDF from the Open Access journal site (Project Euclid).

Unpaywall can also link to working papers, pre-print versions of articles, and early working paper versions of articles. See the Unpaywall tips for more information.

Expansion of SAGE Journals

The University Library has been able to upgrade Stanislaus State access to cover all current and future SAGE Journals.   Previously, the library provided access to 777 journals, but now Stanislaus State students, faculty, and staff have access to all 1132 SAGE Premier journals.  See example Sage journal titles lined from OneSearch.

This increase in access to research publications is due to the University Library's collaboration with all 22 California State University campuses, facilitated by the Systemwide Digital Library Content office (SDLC) of the CSU Chancellor's Office.

Expansion of Oxford University Press Journals

The University Library has been able to upgrade Stanislaus State access to cover all Oxford University Press Journals.   Previously, the library provided access to 165 journals, but now Stanislaus State students, faculty, and staff have access to all 549 OUP journals.

This increase in access to research publications is due to the University Library's collaboration with all 22 California State University campuses, facilitated by the Systemwide Digital Library Content office (SDLC) of the CSU Chancellor's Office.

Expansion of CSU Electronic Core Collection

The CSU system allocated additional central funding to cover the cost and expand the scope of all CSU libraries’ subscriptions to three key collections:

This is an example of levering the collective power of the CSU system to ensure benefits to all CSU students without an increase in spending.

  • More value for the same funding
    • By guaranteeing funding for the entire system, the CSU can negotiate deeper discounts, enhanced collections, and/or longer contracts for the same amount of spending.
  • Equitable access
    • The contracts cover all campuses in the CSU (without requiring local funding), ensuring access to all CSU students (even those on campuses facing budget cuts).
