End of COVID Copyright change for Electronic Reserves:
Due to changes in copyright implementation, starting in Fall 2024 the library will no longer be able to stream most DVD titles via Electronic Reserves.
Subscription collections unaffected:
This change does not affect any access to videos from our video subscription collections. Access to videos from AVON, JoVE, Counseling and Therapy, and Psychotherapy.net videos will remain the same.
Options for instructors who have used Electronic Reserves:
The library has consulted faculty and provided options for access to videos that were formerly streamed via electronic reserves.
Streaming Licenses need to be covered by Firm Order discipline funds:
In the future, the library will need to pay for streaming licenses for many of these videos, which will need to be covered using the library’s Firm Order (Book & Video) funds for the discipline.
Library Consultation with Faculty - Streaming Video Revisited
The following titles were selected by automated criteria as likely candidates for "personal rental" / physical Library DVD on reserves for Fall 2024 and beyond. Faculty who use these titles are encouraged to discuss them with their Liaison Librarian about what options are best for their courses.
Most of these titles are motion pictures from Swank. Several titles are documentaries or films available from Kanopy, which are also available via most or all of the main "personal streaming video rental" sites: Amazon, Apple TV, Google Play, YouTube TV, etc.

As of March 29, 2024, but one of these titles are available for personal rental on multiple, core personal rental sites (Amazon, Google Play, Apple TV, YouTube TV). ( The Dilemma of Desire is/was only available through one service - Apple TV.)
The library owns (or can purchase) DVDs of all of these titles for use on physical Library Reserves. (If placed on physical Library Reserves, the DVD and a DVD player can be checked out from the library allowing free student viewing of the title.)
