Searching for Books




  • To find books located in the CSU Stanislaus Library Annex or in digital format, change the dropdown menu on OneSearch from “Everything” to “Books & Media Stanislaus.”
  • Books and media items available on campus will have a location designation of  "CSU Stanislaus Library Annex." A librarian or library staff member can help you find books in Library Annex Building LX 25.
  • To find additional resources available in all California State University Libraries, change the dropdown menu to “Books and Media, CSU +

CSU+ is an online borrowing system available to all faculty, students, and staff at CSU Stanislaus. Books will be delivered to the library at Turlock or Stockton in 2-3 days.  More information about CSU+ can be found here.

Subject Terms used in Book Catalogs

Most Library Book Catalogs (like the Library Catalog, CSU+, and WorldCat) use Library of Congress subject terms to describe the contents of a book. Using these "official" terms can sometimes improve search results. Click here to add these terms to an advanced search in OneSearch.

Some official Library of Congress subject terms relating to gender include:

  • Feminism
  • Feminist(s)
  • Gender differences- use Sex differences instead
  • Gender identity
  • Gender roles - use Sex role instead
  • Masculinity
  • Sex differences
  • Sex discrimination
  • Sex role
  • Sexual minorities [you can also use Homosexuality, Gay(s), Lesbian(s), Bisexual(s), Transgender(ism)]
  • Women and History
