Finding Articles

Search ERIC for journal articles and non-journal literature (documents) in Education.

For a more precise search, use the online thesaurus for vocabulary to represent the concepts of your research topic.
Place each unique concept in a separate row. Use AND to connect concepts (for example, bilingual education AND qualitative research). Both concepts will be present in your results.
Search separately for journal articles and non-journal literature by limiting your results to journal articles (EJ) or to documents (ED).
Limit your results to peer reviewed for abstracts from scholarly publications.

Content includes in-depth coverage of special education, and more than 100,000 controlled and cross-referenced names of educational tests. Subject coverage includes adult education, continuing education, literacy standards, multicultural/ethnic education, and teaching methods.

Multi-disciplinary, full-text database offering full-text articles, including peer-reviewed titles; also includes indexing and abstracts. This scholarly collection offers information in nearly every area of academic study.

Citations to articles in physical education journals (1970 - present). Records are indexed and classified from peer-reviewed journals, report literature, conference proceedings, trade magazines, patents, articles from the popular press, and many other publications.

APA PsycInfo provides access to abstracts of scholarly journal articles, book chapters, books, and dissertations. It is provides peer-reviewed literature in behavioral science and mental health, and contains citations and summaries dating as far back as the 1600s.
APA PsycInfo is indexed with controlled vocabulary from APA's Thesaurus of Psychological Index Terms®. Included is information on the psychological aspects of related fields such as medicine, psychiatry, nursing, sociology, education, pharmacology, technology, linguistics, anthropology, business, law and others. Journal coverage, which spans from the 1800s to the present, includes international material selected from periodicals in dozens of languages.

CQ Researcher
For research on controversial topics, CQ Researcher provides a weekly report on a key national issue. A number of reports cover topics in Education. Reports include a pro/con section.
Journals A-Z
To determine if a journal is available in full text in a database, search by journal title or ISSN using the Journals A-Z link on the library's home page.
Digital Object Identifier
Search for a citation using a Digital Object Identifier (doi).

Note: Keyword searching removes the filter for the collection. Recommended search strategy is to browse through issues of a journal of interest.

Finding Articles on the Internet

Google Scholar is a good resource for scholarly articles available online.

To access articles from library databases, click settings, library links, then search CSU Stanislaus. Check all boxes for CSU Stanislaus and Open WorldCat library search. Articles available in full text in a library database or via open access will include a pdf link on the right side of the list of results.
