Article and maps of California counties covering political affiliation and preferences.
Profiles of California
Entries for counties includes some basic location, history, weather and religious information.
Main section includes an entry covering the entire county, and then varied profiles of cities/places within that county.

Library reference book available online includes basic information on California counties, cities, and selected "places" (selected areas not in an unincorporated area). The topics covered for cities/local places vary depending on the size of the city. (Fewer topics covered for the smaller areas.)

(Note: The ARDA data tends to exclude those who identify with religious traditions but are not full members of a religious congregation. For example, a Pew survey estimates 72% of Californians identify with a religion, but formal religious membership reported by ARDA only accounts for 54% of the California population. Unfortunately, the Pew survey data is not available for the local area.)
