Searching ERIC:
- Stockton Library Access Center's homepage http://www.library.csustan.edu/stockton/
- Under Find Articles, click Databases.
- Click on Education.
- Click on ERIC (through FirstSearch).
- Try starting with a keyword search.
- Use core terms or phrases for your search, not sentences.
- Separate different concepts with the word and (for
example, family history and lesson plans).
- You may rank the results by Date or Relevance.
- Browse through the results and look at the descriptors to get
ideas for other search terms.
- You may limit your results to journal articles or to documents.
When you limit to journal articles, also limit to subscriptions
held by my library to find articles from journals to which we
subscribe.
- Limit to Peer Reviewed for journal articles validated by
scholars in the field.
Finding Articles:
- The book/building icon at the end of an EJ record means our
library subscribes to that journal.
- Click the Find It! button to see if the article is available in
full-text online.
- If you need to request an article from the Main Library in
Turlock, click on the Request

Center's homepage. Use the periodicals form.
- You may obtain articles from journals that we do not subscribe in
the library by clicking on Materials
Not Owned in Stockton or Turlock from the Stockton Library Access
Center's homepage.
ERIC Documents:
- Many of the documents from 1993-present are now available online as PDF
files.
- Click the Access ERIC Full Text link or the Find It!
button to retrieve the full text of the document online.
- Documents from 1966-present that are not available online may be
available on microfiche in Turlock.
- To request ED's from Turlock, click on the Request
Materials from Main Library link on the Stockton Library Access
Center's homepage. Use the book request form. List the accession number (ED plus
six digits) in place of the call number on the request form.
Searching from off campus:
- When you click on the name of the database, you will be prompted
to enter some information to indicate that you are a student at CSU
Stanislaus.
- Enter the 14 digit library ID number (begins with
"209...") on your student ID card, and then
enter your last name.
- You will then have the same access to ERIC as
you have in the library.

- Under Find Books and More, click Other Libraries.
- Click on WorldCat. Search in the same way as described for ERIC (above).
- Search for books, videos, theses etc. nationwide, including materials
owned by CSU Stanislaus.
- Click on the Find It! link to determine if the University
Library owns the item and to locate the call number.
- If you need to request books, ERIC documents, theses, video recordings,
etc. from the Main Library in Turlock, click on the
Request

- To obtain items owned by other libraries, click on Materials Not
