authoritative source for citations to journal articles and non-journal
literature on all
aspects of education.
Searching ERIC:
- University Library's homepage http://library.csustan.edu/
- Click Journal Articles and Databases, then click
Education.
- Click on ERIC (via FirstSearch).
- Click on Subjects (online thesaurus) to find ERIC subject headings to represent the
concepts of your search.
- You may limit your
results to journal articles or to documents. When you limit to journal
articles, also limit to Subscriptions held by my library to find
articles from journals subscribed by the University Library.
- Limit to Peer Reviewed for journal
articles validated by scholars in the field.
- Use core terms or phrases for a keyword search, not
sentences.
- Use and to connect concepts (for example, language acquisition and
educational assessment).
Both concepts will be present in your results.
- You may display the results ranked by Date or
Relevance.
- Browse through the results and look at the descriptors to get ideas for other search terms.
Finding Articles:
- Click
button to see if the article is
available in full-text online or in print in the library.
- You may obtain articles from journals that the library does not subscribe by clicking on
Interlibrary Loan from the library's homepage.
Finding Documents:
- Non-journal literature: curriculum materials, papers presented at
conferences, government documents, etc.
- Many of the documents from 1993-present are now available online as PDF
files.
- Click the Access ERIC Full Text link or
to retrieve the full text of the document
online.
- Documents from 1966-present that are not available online may be
available on microfiche in the library.
Remote Access:
- When you click on the name of the database from off-campus, enter
your CSUStan
e-mail ID before the @ sign and your password.

Education Full Text
- Many
full text articles from education journals from 1984-present.
- Click Journal Articles and Databases, then click
Education.
- Use
the online thesaurus to check for subject headings representing the
concepts of your search.
- Limit
options include Full Text Articles and Peer Reviewed journals.
- When
browsing the results, check the Subjects for other search
terms.
- Use
the same steps to search as described above.

Three Steps to Find Books
Library Catalog
(Step 1)
- University Library's homepage
http://library.csustan.edu/
- Under Find Books, click Library Catalog.
- Search for books, videos, theses, etc. owned by CSU Stanislaus Library.
- Search by keyword, subject, title, or author (last name, first).
- Use if you are unable to find what you need in the Library Catalog.
- University Library's homepage
http://library.csustan.edu/
- Under Find Books, click on Link+, or click on Repeat
Search in
in the library catalog.
- Search for books owned by libraries in California and Nevada.
- Click on
the title of the book to access the online request link.
- Use the arrow for the drop-down menu to select CSU Stanislaus.
- Enter your name, your 9 digit campus
ID number (begins 00...), and select Turlock as the pickup location.
- Books will be delivered to Turlock in three working days and held for
you at the University Library circulation desk.
- You will be notified in your campus e-mail when the books are available
to be picked up.
- Use if you are unable to find what you need in the Library Catalog
or Link+.

- Under Find Books, click on WorldCat.
- Search for books, videos, theses etc. nationwide, including materials
owned by CSU Stanislaus.
- Click on
to determine if the University
Library owns the item and to locate the call number.
