Searching ERIC:
- Stockton Library Access Center's homepage
http://library.csustan.edu/stockton/
- Under Research Links, click Find Articles, and then click
Education.
- Click on ERIC (via FirstSearch).
- Click on Subjects (online thesaurus) to find ERIC subject
headings to represent the concepts of your search.
- Try starting with a keyword search. Use core terms or phrases for your search, not sentences.
- Use and to connect concepts (for example, academic achievement
and gender). Both concepts will be present in your results.
- When you limit to journal articles, also limit to subscriptions held
by my library to find articles from journals to which the library subscribes.
- Limit to Peer Reviewed for journal articles validated by
scholars in the field.
- You may display the results ranked by Date or
Relevance.
- Browse through the results and look at the descriptors
to get
ideas for other search terms.
Finding Articles:
- Click
to see if the article is available in full-text online.
- If you need to request an article from the Main Library in Turlock,
click on
Request Materials from Main Library (in Turlock) from the Stockton
Library Access Center's homepage. Use the article request form.
- You may obtain articles from journals that the library does not
subscribe by clicking on
Materials not owned in Turlock or Stockton
on the Stockton Library Center's homepage. Use the
article request form (photocopy).
Finding Documents:
- When you limit to documents, also limit to full text.
- Many of the ERIC documents from 1993-present are now available online as
PDF files.
- To retrieve the full text of ERIC documents online, click on the
Access ERIC Full Text link under the document title on the results list,
or click
on the detailed record to
retrieve the full text of the document online.
- Documents that are not available online may be available on microfiche
in Turlock. Use the online request form

- Use the book request form for ERIC Documents.
- Include the accession number (ED plus six digits).

Remote Access:
- When you click on the name of the database from off-campus, enter your
CSUStan e-mail ID before the @ sign as your user name. and then enter
your password.
Education Full Text
- Many full text articles from education journals from 1984-present.
- Click Find Articles, and then click
Education.
- Use the online thesaurus to check for subject headings
representing the concepts of your search.
- Limit options include Full Text Articles and Peer Reviewed
journals.
- When browsing the results, check the Subjects for other
search terms.
- Use the same steps to search as described above.
ProQuest Dissertations: Humanities and Social Sciences
- Contains the full text of over one million theses or dissertations in
the subject areas of Social Sciences and Humanities.
- Stockton Library Access Center's homepage.

- Under Research Links, click Find Articles, and then click
Theses and Dissertations.
- Click on ProQuest Dissertations.
- Search by the author, title, or the subject of the thesis or
dissertation.
- Retrieve an abstract (summary), a 24 page preview, or a PDF file
containing the full text of the thesis or dissertation.
- Click Full Text-PDF to read or save a copy of the complete dissertation
to your desktop or flash drive.
- E-mail a summary and a link to the full text of the thesis or
dissertation.
- You may obtain a thesis or dissertation not available in full text by
clicking on
Materials not owned in Turlock or Stockton from the Stockton Library

Three Steps to Find Books
Library Catalog (Step 1)
- Stockton Library Access Center's homepage

- Under Research Links, click Find Books, and then click
Library Catalog.
- Search for books, journals, videos, theses, etc. owned by CSU Stanislaus
Library.
- Search by keyword, subject, title, or author (last name, first).
- Use the online request form
Request Materials from Main Library (in Turlock).
- Use the book form and include the call number.
- Use if you are unable to find what you need in the Library Catalog.

- You may also click on Repeat Search in
in the library catalog.
- Search for books owned by libraries in California and Nevada.
- Click on the title of the book to access
the online request link.
- Use the arrow for the drop-down menu to select CSU Stanislaus.
- Enter your name, your 9 digit campus
ID number (begins 00...), and select Stockton as the pickup location.
- Books will be delivered to Stockton in three-four working days and held
for you at the Stockton Library Center.
- You will be notified in your campus e-mail when the books are available
to be picked up.
- Use if you are unable to find what you need in the Library Catalog
or Link+.
