Statistical Abstract of the United States - The best place to start in print, the latest edition is available at the library's reference desk. Each annual edition is packed with entries on a wide varieties of topics, such as people, health, education, business and economy, transportation, energy, defense, etc. The website covers 1878 to the present.
Agricultural Statistics - Annual report on crops, livestock, finances, etc., compiled by the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Print copy shelved in the library's government documents collection under the call number U.S.DOCS A 1.47:
Bureau of Justice Statistics - Government agency which compiles reports on a wide variety of topics related to crime and justice.
Uniform Crime Reports (UCR) - Most comprehensive single report on crime in the nation, compiled by the FBI from police/law enforcement reports. Published each year as a book called Crime in the United States, shelved in the library's government documents section under the call number: DOCS J 1.14/7:
Census Bureau - Detailed demographic data (including race, age, family status, income, education) on every location in the United States, plus reports on income/poverty, housing, and population projects.
Population Reference Bureau United States Data Finder- Quick look up for race, age, education, and family data for every state.
Economic Briefing Room - Most recent statistics on durable goods, housing, income, inventories, sales, and trade, compiled by the Census Bureau.
Census Bureau Economic Programs - Monthly reports include sales, inventories, and housing starts, annual reports include number of size of businesses by industry in each state and county. Every five years, the Economic Census includes detailed snapshots on inpidual industries.
Economic Indicators - Latest monthly data on the state of the U.S. economy.
Bureau of Labor Statistics - Data on employment, inflation, prices, productivity and wages.
