What is Dissertation Abstracts?

Dissertation Abstracts summarizes dissertations published in the U.S. and is divided into two parts. Part A covers the social sciences and humanities and Part B covers the sciences and engineering. The library's subscription to ProQuest Dissertations Full-Text lists the titles from Part A only, and includes immediate, online access to the full-text for most social science & humanities dissertations written from 1997 - present. Some research databases include summaries of dissertations written for a specific discipline and sometimes database entry for a dissertation appears to be "journal articles" from the "journal"  Dissertation Abstracts.
