Overview of 40,000 U.S. and 75,000 international companies.
Includes history, financial overview, news, subsidiaries, joint ventures, and long-term debt.

Value Line Investment Survey
Reports historical and current financial information on 1,800 companies and about 100 industry groups.
Use the "Lookup Company" link.

D&B Million Dollar Database
Includes over 150,000 U.S. private and public companies with sales over $500,000.
Lists officers and directors, line of business, SIC code, approximate sales and number of employees, stock ticker symbol, and sub-divisions.


Industry Information

Standard and Poor's Industry Surveys

This resource provides economic analysis of more than 1500 companies. Many charts and projections are included.
The three volumes are broken down into topic (or industries) and different companies are located in each topic or several topics.
Use the Index to Companies at the beginning of Volume 1 to locate your company.

Value Line Investment Survey
Note the industry name that Value Line assigns to your company, and then use the "Lookup Industry" link to display the list of industries.
Find your industry on the list, and then click the PDF icon under the heading "Industry Report" to find composite financial information for your industry.

Mergent Online
Find out what industry code Mergent assigns to your company. This will be listed on the "Company Details/Synopsis" page.
Click "Search" in the upper left-hand corner of the screen or return to the opening Mergent screen, and then click the "Industry Reports" tab.
Select your industry and region and click "Search."

Encyclopedia of American Industries

SIC Codes and NAICS Codes

Standard Industrial Classification (SIC) and North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) codes were developed by the U.S. Government to describe and group economic activity. Many of the company directories, including Mergent Online and D&B Million Dollar Directory, include these codes. The following sources may be useful when trying to identify which code describes a specific product or industry.
